Assassin?s Creed
Graphics: Everything you?d expect from a next gen. mega title. Eye-popping gorgeousness, and nothing less.
Music & Sound: All the necessary and expected sounds are there as they need to be. However, the game doesn?t have much of a soundtrack as I recall. So for this category Assassin?s Creed just comes out on par, if that.
Game-play / Handling: Absolutely phenomenal, if you ask me. I really love just running around and climbing in that game. The physics of it is so detailed. Everything that you do in the game is precise and intuitive. It really seemed to cover all the basis of game-play that you?d expect to be able to do, as an assassin. The only set-back is that you do the same types of things throughout the whole game. However, that?s what it?s all about, and personally I never grew tired of it. In fact, I can?t wait for the next game.
Plot: This game brings a lot more to the table, than you?d expect from a game where you?re supposed to be an 11th century assassin. There?s a Sci-Fi element that adds extra depth to the game, and really rounded it all out. Assassin?s Creed is a very interesting game, and even philosophical at times. While the story is more complex than you might have originally anticipated, it doesn?t really go too far with it either. In that I mean, it doesn?t get as deep, or as some say as convoluted, as something like MGS2. So while it does throw you for a loop at first, it's not hard to follow. Plus the ending is pretty open-ended, surely to make room for a sequel.
Overall: I expected a pretty good game, and I got an amazing game, sure to be a classic.

Uncharted: Drake?s Fortune
Graphics: It?s definitely got the graphics to call itself a next generation game. You spend a lot of time in the jungle, and there?s some really gorgeous scenery to check out.
Music & Sound: There was a soundtrack, but nothing too spectacular. Although the ambivalent sound effects were really nice. They help to immerse you in the game, and make you feel like you?re there in the jungle. The voice-acting was great, which was nice compared to the repetitive lines you hear over and over in Assassin?s Creed.
Game-play / Handling: The handling is really tight, so that?s good. Once you learn how to play, you should have no problem performing the tasks and maneuvers that you want. The game has been compared to a next gen. Tomb Raider, and that?s really not a bad comparison. The game uses an over-the-shoulder shooting system, basically like the one in Resident Evil 4 or Gears of War. Also, you can take cover, which is extremely important, if you don?t want to get shot to death. So the combat is way more precise than Tomb Raider, and that?s a major plus. In some ways the running and climbing rivals Assassin?s Creed, being almost but not entirely as detailed about what you can grab and climb on.
Plot: So you?re a treasure hunter named Nate, who?s following the trail of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, in hopes of discovering the lost treasure of El Dorado. You?re in for a quality game though, so expect good voice-acting to accompany an entertaining story. Whilst hunting for treasure, you?ll encounter pirates, mercenaries, and who knows what else. Leave it to your shady buddy Sully to get you into trouble with some no-good types, and you?ll have plenty to keep you busy. Will you find the treasure, or will you simple cease to be along the way. Also, the game throws a nice twist at you towards the end, and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise that helped add to the intensity of the game.
Overall: This was a really great game, but still a little too short, beating out Heavenly Sword's average playtime by only a couple of hours. Being short seems to be the trend with these new games. There was an actual concluding ending to the game, instead of just setup for another game, like with Assassin?s Creed, but they left room for a sequel if they decide to make another, and I?m hoping they do.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Game of the Year Edition (PS3)
Graphics: Gorgeous, just gorgeous. From the super-detail in the facial features, to the realistic body movements of both man and beast, to the gajillion, er, make that bazilliongajillionkramillion areas in the game from grassy plains, to mountains, to underground lakes, to ruined forts, to mines, to castles, from night to day and inbetween, the beautiful artwork that is this game's look is just stunning to behold.
Music & Sound: The walking around the world music doesn't have a ton of variety, but there is enough of it there for you to not really notice. Beyond that, it's just fine, with the sheer mass tonnage of voice acting, some done better than others, but all having their own personality for sure.
Game-play / Handling: Awesome. The PS3 controller adapts itself very well to this adaptation of a computer game. All motions and actions are very fluid and lifelike. You have your choice of first-person or third-person view, with first-person being my personal favorite. The question is this, what kind of character do you want to play? A straight-up badass axe-wielding psychopath? A noble knight? A powerful warmage using both magic and might? A super-powered mage throwing out illusions, charms, fireballs, and the like? A conjurer, summoning otherworldly beings of great power to do his bidding? Do you want to hunt vampires? Done. Tired of hunting vampires? Good. You can become a vampire. Want to uphold righteousness and justice? Great. Want to be a theiving, murdering bastard? You can do that to. Want to save the world? Want to make the world yours? Honestly the sheer volume of character creation choices, weapon and magic choices, dialogue options, places to visit, creatures and people to fight, and things to discover are damn near limitless, or at least as close as it's probably ever going to get in a video game. Oh, and say you don't care to spend thirty minutes of real time walking across the continent, and I do mean a freakin continent, you can simply access the map and fast travel to any destination you wish, granted you have discovered it the old-fashioned way first. The result, you have to personally explore to find places, but once you find them, it's but a point and click away from being there again any time you wish. You will turn into a mindless zombie freak if you aren't careful. Dont' say I didnt' warn you.
Plot: You find yourself in the Imperial Dungeon when all of sudden, the emperor gets murdered by a mysterious group. Come to find out, you're destined to travel into the dimension of Oblivion to stop an onslaught of evil like nothing you've ever seen. Unless of course, you've got other things you'd rather do. In this game, their is so much you can do. Join a guild. Become a knight. Become a mage. Become a vampire. Break into people's houses. Fight in the arena. Adventure through countless caves, mines, forts, and so on. Visit the shrines of ancient daedra, where a perilous task can lead to death, or great rewards. It really is quite up to you in what you wish to do. There is the main quest, which alone would make for a great game, but when you throw in all the stuff you can do on the side, the playability and replay value skyrocket without apology.
Overall: This is one of the best, if not the best game I have played in a long time, if not ever. Honestly, I have not been so excited and enthralled in a game in a long time. It makes you want to do everything just to be passing by some peasant on the street and have them comment offhandedly, "He looks like he can use a sword.", or to garner fame unto yourself to the point that the herald of the countess seeks you out so that you may find yourself on a treasure hunt that has you trekking through the mountains, and then the underground, to wind up at a long-abandoned military post where an ancient and decisive battle was fought hundreds of years prior. If you wish to have a life in any measure, you will avoid this game like the plauge. If, however, you wish to enjoy one of the best games I have ever had the pleasure of playing, by all means, get this game! Get it now you fool!

Yeah, it's a really great game. I played the hell out of it. I can't give it a perfect score, just due to my own preferences and all, but it's pretty close.
Also, I just got Devil May Cry 4, a review shall follow.

Oh that's cool. What kind of character did you have? Mine is a Dunmer born under the sign of The Ritual named Ganes. He's a warmage type. Big points in blade, heavy armor, conjuration, restoration, and destruction, among other things. Lot of hit points, and enough magic to bring out some potent summons, as well as a decent arsenal of close-quarters fighting.

Yeah, I was about the same. Can't really remember my race, but I wore heavy armor, and mostly fought with a big sword, but I'd throw fireballs and shit too from time to time.

 Re: Videogame Reviews Thread
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Graphics: What can I say, they’re superb. I would expect nothing less from a next gen. game, and B:AA definitely delivers.
Music & Sound: Once again, excellent. The music does well to lend itself to the dark mood that’s so appropriate to Batman. You feel like you’re right there with Batman as the music and sounds draw you in.
Game-play / Handling: The controls for this game are very tight. I was actually a little surprised by how good the handling is. Once you get the hang of the combo system, you can literally leap about the room as you beat the crap out of the Joker’s henchmen. The combo system requires that you not miss with a single attack in order to keep the combo going, so the controls are very tight as you fight large groups of enemies, changing back and forth from attack to counter, all while dodging about and not getting touched, while not missing. It can be tricky to pull of, but once you get the hang of it, the handling necessary to pull it off is right there at your finger tips. The game also includes times where you have to think like Batman, solving puzzles and defeating the bad guys in the nick of the time, often with your mind instead of your fists. That’s another thing I really enjoyed about the game-play, it’s not all about just beating up the bad guys. There are times where you feel like the great detective himself, and the Dark Knight's gadgets really come in handy for the investigations. I really enjoyed the detective aspects of the game. I'd like to see more stuff like this in video games. Hopefully they'll do even more in the sequel. Despite the fact that the whole game takes place on Arkham Island, there’s plenty of places to explore, so you don’t feel cramped. The Asylum is quite big, with many large buildings to investigate, including Arkham Mansion and the Arkham Prison. The Riddler has also hidden 240 different challenges on the island, including Riddler trophies, secret maps, patient interview tapes, and even some classic Riddler riddles. So there’s plenty to be done in this game. There's also a challenge mode, where you can fight bad guys for points, or do stealth missions. So even after you beat the game, there's lots more to do. You're also able to see into Batman's psyche in certain parts of the game, as you deal with my favorite Batman villain, the Scarecrow. Definitely some of my favorite parts in the game were involving the effects of Scarecrow's gas on the mind of Batman. I hope to see more of this in the next game as well.
Plot: The game takes place on Arkham Asylum, as the name implies. The Joker has sprung a trap for Batman, and now not only does Batman have to find a way out of the Asylum, but the Joker has set up a number of challenges throughout the island, and some of the series other more prominent villains appear to help cause Batman some grief. Batman is tasked with the challenge of stopping the mass break-out, and putting the bad guys back in there cells.
Overall: An enjoyable and entertaining game of very high quality. I hope they make a sequel and focus on some of the other villains that weren’t featured in this game. There are about 5 major bosses in this game, but nearly every Batman villain is at least mentioned. I hope to see some of the other vallains that weren’t bosses in this game step up in the next game.
Rating: Another 4.5 out of 5 stars. I guess I just like writing about the games I enjoy the most, but I’m going to start reviewing even more games, as I play them.
